Day 1
Arrival in Arusha
Welcome to Arusha! Our driver will welcome you at Kilimanjaro (or Arusha) Airport and take you to your hotel. If you have enough time today, our guide can take you on a city tour on foot. Pass by the local markets and famous landmarks like the Clock Tower and the Masai market. Or you can relax at the hotel's swimming pool and prepare for your safari adventure, which starts tomorrow!
Day 2
Tarangire National Park
Our guide will collect you from your hotel to start your safari. He will brief you about the safari, the schedule, and what to expect. The drive to Tarangire will take about 2 hours. On the way, enjoy the beautiful views of the local villages and herds of cattle belonging to the Masai.
If you have never been to Tarangire (and even if you have), you are in for a real treat. Tarangire is filled with giants—baobab trees and elephants all across the park. Of the big cats, you will probably see lions, cheetahs, and leopards around, too. Watch out for the wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, and zebras. Our guide will take you off the beaten track and share stories about the park and the natural world around you.
As you enjoy your meal at the picnic site, the sound of birds singing and the rustling of leaves in the wind will add to the peaceful and serene atmosphere. Later, we leave Tarangire behind us and drive towards Heart and Soul Lodge, where you can take a dip in the pool.
Day 3
Serengeti National Park
We will depart after breakfast and head towards Serengeti National Park, where we will arrive around lunchtime. The Serengeti is one of the world's most famous wildlife destinations. We will explore the vast plains in search of the Big Five and other animals. The Serengeti's scenery is also unforgettable—observe Africa's iconic acacia trees, the park's golden grasslands, and great piles of boulders known as kopjes.
As the sun begins to set, the experience is not over yet—the journey back to your lodge can be just as exciting. As you make your way through the park, you might catch glimpses of wildlife that are more active in the evening hours. The changing colors of the sky, the warm glow of the setting sun add to the magic of the moment.
You will stay overnight at Serengeti Wildebeest Camp, located in the central part of Serengeti National Park.
Day 4
Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti
This is the day you have been waiting for! We depart early in the morning and drive to Northern Serengeti. As you set out on your game drive, the open savannah will unfold before you, heightening your senses as you listen to the sounds of nature and scan the horizon for any signs of movement.
As you venture closer to the Mara River, you might start to see vast herds of wildebeest grazing peacefully with their shaggy manes and sweeping horns. Along the way, you may encounter other predators, such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, who are always looking for their next meal.
During the migration season, you may also witness the wildebeest river crossing. As the herds move towards the Mara River, they must navigate treacherous waters filled with crocodiles and strong currents. The excitement and tension in the air during this event are palpable, and it is a moment you will never forget.
As the sun sets, you will head towards Mara River Serengeti Savannah Camp for an overnight stay.
Day 5
Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti
Driving back from Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti is a journey through a vast and diverse landscape that showcases the incredible beauty of this region of Tanzania. As you leave the north behind, you will be treated to a journey that is as breathtaking as it is unforgettable.
The route from Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti is scenic, with plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the incredible views. Along the way, you will pass through rugged terrain and open savannahs, with rolling hills and towering rocky outcrops providing a dramatic backdrop.
One of the journey's highlights is the chance to see more wildlife as you make your way back towards Central Serengeti.
Tonight, you will overnight at Serengeti Wildebeest Camps.
Day 6
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Today, we wake up early and start the day with a beautiful sunrise game drive. There is something truly magical about experiencing the African wilderness at sunrise, and a sunrise game drive is one of the best ways to do so. The early morning is an incredible time to spot some of the park's most elusive and active wildlife, including lions, leopards, and hyenas. We head to the Ngorongoro Crater, where we will do a game drive for the rest of the day.
A game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater is a highlight of any safari adventure in Tanzania. This unique natural wonder is home to an incredible array of wildlife, from herds of grazing antelope to majestic lions and towering elephants.
Journeying through the crater on a game drive, you can spot some of the park's most iconic species, including black rhinoceros, hippos, and wildebeest. At the end of the day, we head to Marera Valley Lodge, beautifully located between the Karatu hills.
Day 7
Cultural Tour in Mto Wa Mbu
It is time to be active today and to get to know the local culture. You will explore the village of Mto Wa Mbu on foot (or by bike). Visit the local market and pass by local crafts, such as woodworking and a banana beer brewery. The tour will also take you through the rice fields and end with a delicious local lunch between the banana plantations—a true Tanzanian experience! There is enough time for a swim or a drink at the lodge in the afternoon.
Day 8
Masai Village Visit and Transfer to Arusha
Today, you have a chance to meet the Masai. Experience the rich culture of the Masai community with our immersive visit to a Masai boma in Tanzania! Step into their traditional lifestyle, learn about their fascinating customs, and engage in vibrant dances and storytelling around the fire. Interact with locals, witness their remarkable beadwork, and cherish memories of a unique cultural encounter that will stay with you forever. Join us for an unforgettable journey into the heart of Masai tradition.
After the Masai village visit, we will take you to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for your flight home or to Zanzibar. We can also drop you off at your hotel in Arusha. We hope you had an amazing safari!
