6-Day Nyerere National Park Safari & Zanzibar Holiday

Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar – Fly to Nyerere National Park

Morning:

Arrive in Zanzibar and transfer to the Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) for your flight to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). The flight offers a scenic aerial view of the Tanzanian landscapes.

Upon arrival at Nyerere, your guide will meet you and transfer you to your lodge or camp inside the park.

Afternoon:

Check-in at your accommodation and enjoy lunch with views of the African wilderness.

After lunch, embark on an introductory game drive in Nyerere National Park, where you may see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and a variety of birdlife.

Evening:

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Relax and enjoy the tranquility of the African bush.

Day 2: Full-Day Safari in Nyerere National Park

Morning:

Start the day with an early breakfast and head out for a morning game drive. The park is famous for its diverse wildlife, and you may spot lions, wild dogs, crocodiles, and various antelope species.

Explore the Rufiji River, which is a prime location for spotting hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of birds.

Midday:

Stop for a picnic lunch in the park or return to the lodge depending on your location. Enjoy the surrounding nature and continue your exploration.

Afternoon:

After lunch, take a boat safari along the Rufiji River. This is a unique opportunity to see the park's wildlife from the water, including elephants drinking at the riverbanks, pods of hippos, and crocodiles basking in the sun.

Day 3: Morning Safari and Fly Back to Zanzibar

Morning:

Enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on your final morning game drive in Nyerere National Park. Capture any last glimpses of the park’s incredible wildlife, and take some photos of the beautiful landscapes.

Late Morning:

After the morning drive, return to the lodge for an early lunch.

Check out of the lodge and transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar.

Afternoon:

Arrive in Zanzibar and transfer to your resort or hotel for check-in.

Relax and enjoy your first evening in Zanzibar.

Evening:

Enjoy dinner at your Zanzibar accommodation, and unwind on the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar.

Day 4: Spice Tour and Stone Town Exploration

Morning:

After breakfast, embark on a spice tour in Zanzibar. Visit spice plantations where you can learn about the cultivation of cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and other spices. You’ll have the chance to sample and buy some of the spices, and learn about their medicinal uses and history on the island.

Afternoon:

Continue your day with a visit to Stone Town, the historical heart of Zanzibar. Explore the winding alleys, visit the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, the Sultan’s Palace, and the Zanzibar Doors, known for their intricate designs.

Enjoy a local lunch in Stone Town, tasting Zanzibari dishes such as biryani or fresh seafood.

Evening:

Return to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing dinner by the beach or a rooftop restaurant with views of the Indian Ocean.

Day 5: Relaxation and Beach Day

Morning:

After a leisurely breakfast, spend your day relaxing on Zanzibar's stunning beaches. Choose from famous beaches like Nungwi, Kendwa, or Paje, where you can swim, sunbathe, and enjoy the crystal-clear waters.

Afternoon:

You can opt for a snorkeling trip to nearby islands or coral reefs, or try other water sports like kayaking or kite surfing. If you prefer a quieter experience, indulge in a spa treatment at your hotel or take a walk along the shoreline.

Evening:

Day 6: Departure

Morning:

Enjoy your final breakfast in Zanzibar, and relax at the beach or do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs in Stone Town.

Depending on your flight time, your driver will transfer you to Zanzibar Airport for your onward flight home.
