4-Day Nyerere National Park Safari Itinerary (Fly In/Out from Zanzibar)

Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar – Fly to Nyerere National Park

Morning:

Arrive in Zanzibar and transfer to Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) for your flight to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous).

Take a scenic flight over Tanzania's landscapes, arriving at the Nyerere National Park airstrip.

Midday:

Upon arrival, you'll be met by your safari guide and transferred to your lodge or camp within the park.

Check-in, relax, and enjoy a welcome lunch at the lodge.

Afternoon:

Enjoy a short, introductory game drive to get familiar with the park's landscape and wildlife. Nyerere National Park is known for its rich biodiversity, including elephants, lions, wild dogs, and a variety of birds.

Return to your lodge for a refreshing break.

Evening:

Evening sundowner and a relaxing dinner at the lodge while enjoying the sounds of the African wilderness.

Overnight:

Stay at your lodge or luxury tented camp.

Day 2: Full-Day Safari in Nyerere National Park

Morning:

Early morning wake-up for breakfast.

Head out for a morning game drive, when the park is most active. Spot wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, and buffaloes. If you're lucky, you may witness predators like lions or leopards during their hunt.

Midday:

Break for a packed lunch in the park or back at the lodge, depending on your location.

Afternoon:

After lunch, continue your exploration of Nyerere National Park. You’ll have the opportunity to visit various habitats such as the Rufiji River, which attracts hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife.

Enjoy a boat safari along the river for a unique perspective of the park, spotting wildlife from the water.

Evening:

Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, sharing stories of the day's adventures.

Day 3: Morning Safari and Fly Back to Zanzibar

Early Morning:

Enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on your last morning game drive.

Look out for any animals you may have missed during your previous safari drives, including rare sightings of the endangered African wild dog or elusive leopards.

Midday:

After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and check out of your accommodation.

Afternoon:

Transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar.

Enjoy a scenic flight back to Zanzibar, taking in the aerial views of Tanzania's landscapes.

Evening:

Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you’ll be transferred to your hotel or resort. Spend the evening relaxing on Zanzibar’s pristine beaches, enjoying the sunset or exploring the vibrant Stone Town.

Day 4: Relax and Explore Zanzibar

Morning:

After breakfast, take some time to relax and unwind by the beach.

Optional activities include a spice tour, visiting the famous Stone Town, or taking a boat trip to one of the nearby islands such as Prison Island for snorkeling.

Afternoon:

Continue enjoying the laid-back atmosphere of Zanzibar, perhaps indulge in a seafood lunch or visit some local markets.

Evening:

If your flight departs in the evening, you'll be transferred to Zanzibar Airport for your international flight.
