4-Day Mikumi National Park Safari Itinerary (Fly In/Out from Zanzibar)

Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar – Fly to Mikumi National Park

Morning:

Arrive in Zanzibar. Depending on your arrival time, you'll have a short transfer to the Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ).

Board a scheduled flight from Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park. This is a scenic flight that offers a bird’s-eye view of Tanzania's stunning landscapes.

Upon arrival at Mikumi Airstrip, your guide will meet you and transfer you to your lodge.

Afternoon:

After checking in and freshening up at your lodge, enjoy a delicious lunch.

Relax and unwind for the afternoon, or opt for a short evening game drive to get an introduction to the park’s wildlife.

Evening:

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Enjoy the serene atmosphere of Mikumi under the African sky.

Day 2: Full-Day Safari in Mikumi National Park

Morning:

Start the day early with a hearty breakfast.

Embark on a morning game drive. Mikumi is known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and various antelope species. The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise with over 400 species of birds.

Afternoon:

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, surrounded by nature.

Continue your safari drive, exploring different parts of Mikumi, such as the Mkata floodplains and the hippo pool, where you can often spot hippos basking in the sun.

Evening:

Return to your lodge in the late afternoon.

Enjoy a relaxing dinner and share stories of your day’s adventures.

Day 3: Morning Safari and Fly Back to Zanzibar

Morning:

After an early breakfast, embark on one final morning game drive to catch a glimpse of any wildlife you may have missed the day before.

Look out for rare sightings, including leopards or cheetahs, or enjoy the scenic beauty of the park as the sun rises over the plains.

Late Morning:

Return to the lodge for a late breakfast or early lunch.

Pack your bags and check out of the lodge.

Afternoon:

Transfer to Mikumi Airstrip for your return flight to Zanzibar.

Upon arrival in Zanzibar, your driver will meet you at the airport for your transfer back to your hotel.

Evening:

Arrive in Zanzibar and enjoy a relaxing evening at your beach resort or hotel.

Take the opportunity to explore the beautiful beaches or indulge in a fresh seafood dinner by the coast.

Day 4: Relax and Explore Zanzibar

Morning:

Spend the day relaxing in Zanzibar or opt for an excursion. You can explore the historic Stone Town, visit the spice farms, or take a boat trip to a nearby island like Prison Island.

Afternoon:

Continue exploring Zanzibar's rich cultural and natural offerings, or enjoy a relaxing time on the beach.

Evening:

If your flight is in the evening, your driver will transfer you to Zanzibar Airport for your international departure flight.
