Day 1: Arusha to Lake Natron (via Mto wa Mbu)
Morning:
Depart from Arusha early morning (around 7:00 AM).
Drive through the scenic Maasai Steppe and Great Rift Valley escarpments.
Pass through Mto wa Mbu and stop for a quick cultural tour or refreshments.
Afternoon:
Continue the drive to Lake Natron, approximately 5–6 hours total from Arusha.
Check in at a lodge or campsite near the lake (e.g., Maasai Giraffe Eco Lodge, Lengai Safari Lodge, or public campsites).
Enjoy a guided walk to Lake Natron, known for its surreal landscapes, and spot the flocks of flamingos that thrive here.
Evening:
Early dinner and rest, as the Ol Doinyo Lengai trek starts in the middle of the night.

Day 2: Summit Ol Doinyo Lengai and Return to Arusha
Midnight to Dawn:
Begin the climb around midnight with your guide.
Trek to the summit, reaching it by sunrise for stunning views of the surrounding Rift Valley, Lake Natron, and the volcanic landscape.
Descend back to the base after sunrise (approximately 5–7 hours round trip depending on fitness levels).
Late Morning to Afternoon:
Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast/brunch and some rest.
Depart for Arusha mid-afternoon, arriving by early evening.
What to Bring
Sturdy hiking boots.
Warm clothing for the summit (nights are cold).
Ample water and snacks.
Headlamp or flashlight for the nighttime climb.
Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses for the descent.
